Honor the best of American democracy at an 1816 “temple” to Federalism and the American ideal. Usually closed in January, the museum will open with a new Tour for the Presidential Inaugural. Hear the echoes of politicians, soldiers, dignitaries, and the six generations of Custis-Peters who received them as guests as you tour the mansion's heirloom-filled rooms with a special focus on the estate’s noteworthy Washington Collection. Entertaining visitors? Bring them to Tudor Place to find inspiration in the perseverance of this quadrennial democratic rite.

Presidential Tea & Tour
Saturday, Jan. 19, 10 a.m. and 1 p.m.Enhance your experience and add to your understanding of that quadrennial American rite, the Presidential Inauguration, with a visit to an 1816 “temple” to the democratic ideal. Guests begin in the Victorian Dower House by partaking of a variety of historic teas paired with favorite presidential dishes. Next, on the docent-led Tour for the Presidential Inaugural, they visit heirloom-filled rooms that echo with voices of politicians, soldiers, dignitaries, and the six generations of Custis-Peters who received them as guests. The tour includes a special focus on Tudor Place’s noteworthy Washington Collection.
