This lovely scarf reflects the architecture and collections of Tudor Place in its classical design. The vibrant golds and subtle greys surrounded by a black border are woven into the heavy weight silk twill. The scarf is a traditional 36” square. Designed by Georgetown artist Jane Matz.

Society of the Cincinnati Fruit Bowl
Reproduction of an original soup bowl in the Tudor Place collection. Our original bowl is from a set given by Harry Lee to George Washington. The Society of Cincinnati is a fraternal society formed in 1783 and members included American and French officers of the Revolutionary War. The Society continues with the first-born male son of each original member. The name comes from the 5th century B.C. Roman Senator Lucius Quinctius Cincinnatus, who left his farm to fight for his country and returned when hostilities ceased. Pierre Charles L’Enfant designed the insignia.

Baby Robin
Reproduction from the Tudor Place Collection by sculptor Paul Wayland Bartlett (1865-1925) . Bartlett was born in New York, but by age 9 was living in Paris with his father and studying art. Bartlett studied with the sculptors Emmanuel Fremiet and Auguste Rodin at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts. As a young artist, he earned a reputation for his animal studies. Some of his best-known works include the equestrian statue of Lafayette in Paris, the statue of Michelangelo in the Library of Congress, and the façade of the New York Public Library. Paul Bartlett was the stepfather of Caroline Peter. “Baby Robin” dates to ca 1890. Resin, height: 4".

Mother and Child Reproduction Sculpture
Reproduction from the Tudor Place Collection by sculptor Albert-Ernest Carrier-Belleuse (1824-1887).
Born in France, Carrier-Belleuse was one of the most prolific and versatile sculptors of the 19th century. He studied sculpture at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Paris and decorative arts at the Petite Ecole. Carrier-Belleuse maintained a busy studio, in which some of the leading sculptors of the next generation, including Auguste Rodin, studied with him. In 1876 Carrier-Belleuse, as its artistic director, revitalized the Sèvres porcelain manufactory. In 1884, he was made an officer of the Légion d’honneur for his services to the decorative arts. The Tudor Place Mother and Child sculpture dates to ca.1854 and the reproduction is 7 inches in height.
