Tudor Place

Conservation

Tudor Place engages the expertise of trained archaeological conservators to ensure artifacts are afforded professional standards of conservation and care.

According to the Society for Historical Archaeologists, archaeological conservators “serve as partners to the [field] archaeologist in planning for recovery of artifacts, purchase of materials for packaging and storing artifacts, recovery of fragile artifacts, and analysis of artifact materials. Conservators also aid in the long-term preservation of artifacts for study and interpretation.” In both the field and the lab, these specialists employ techniques that protect delicate objects during their removal and long-term storage or display.
