The archaeological research program seeks to investigate all relevant areas of the 5½-acre estate and adjoining properties. The site is identified by the designation 51NW1344, with all corresponding excavations noted serially as .1, .2, .3, etc.
Excavations at Tudor Place began in late 2002, when contract archaeologists mitigated the impact of a building maintenance project on the north elevation of the main house. All excavations since 2010 are documented according to the Secretary of the Interior’s Standards for Archeological Documentation. Artifacts recovered are handled according to the Society for Historical Archaeology’s Curation Standards
