Weaponry and Firearms
The Weaponry and Firearms Collection includes 34 firearms and several American and Asian military swords. Unique examples of ceremonial weaponry include a carved ivory dagger made in Japan and two swords used during the Mexican War. Significant examples of firearms include a 1920s Parker A1 Special; a ca. 1860 J.H. Merrill Calvary Carbine; a finely engraved pair of ca. 1764 – 1800 flintlock dueling pistols; eight Colt revolvers from ca. 1850 – 1920; and a Remington Model 11 shotgun, one of the first semi-automatic designs.
